    c. Một số lưu ý trong việc chuyển đổi câu chủ động sang câu bị động

    • Câu chỉ có thể chuyển sang bị động nếu động từ trong câu có tân ngữ đi kèm.
      • He wrote a letter. ---> A letter was written.
      • They came late. (Trong câu này không có tân ngữ nên không thể chuyển sang câu bị động)
    • Thể bị động được dùng với các động từ SAY, BELIEVE, UNDERSTAND, KNOWN và những động từ tương tự trong câu tường thuật để tránh dùng các danh từ hay đại từ nhân xưng PEOPLE hoặc THEY
      • People say that the actor lives in New York. ---> The actor is said to live in New York.
    • Nếu động từ trong câu chủ động có đi kèm với giới từ và một tân ngữ thì giới từ trong câu phải đứng ngay sau động từ đó khi câu được chuyển sang bị động.
      • People laugh at him. ---> He is laughed at.
