Archimedes' arbelos to the n-th dimension - Antonio M. Oller-Marcén The arbelos was introduced in Proposition 4 of Archimedes' Book of Lemmas. It is the plane figure bounded by three pairwise tangent semicircles with diameters lying on the same line. This figure has several interesting properties that have been studied over time. For example, the area of the arbelos equals the area of the circle whose diameter is the portion inside the arbelos of the common tangent to the smaller circles.
